2010 FUN FACTS

The Angels Have Arrived Home

We want to thank each and every one of you who made The Angels Across The USA Tour possible.  Our journey in 2010 crossed this great country of ours several times.  Thanks to your sponsorship in honor of your angels we were able to play and speak in 110 cities.  We shared a message of hope and healing with thousands of hurting families who attended events large and small which was made possible because of you.

Along the journey we took every opportunity possible to share your Angels with the world.  Not only did hundreds of thousands of people see our trailer decorated with decals bearing the names and hometowns of your beautiful children, grandchildren, and siblings… but those of you who submitted pictures had your angels displayed along side Alan every night as he spoke and played.

The story of the Angels Tour was featured in countless newspapers, on television and radio, so you can feel good that your Angel was seen by the world!

As we passed through some of America’s greatest cities and many of its most beautiful areas, we took many pictures and videos.  Here are just a few highlights of some of the places your Angels travelled to and through on this journey.

The Las Vegas Strip

The Mall of America (Bloomington, Minnesota)

The Precious Moments Chapel (Carthage, Missouri)

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (Cleveland, Ohio)

Daytona Speedway (Daytona Beach, Florida)

Disneyland (Anaheim, California)

The Professional Football Hall of Fame (Canton, Ohio)

Bourbon Street (New Orleans, Louisiana)

Music Row (Nashville, Tennessee)

New York City

Provincetown (Cape Cod, MA)

Washington, D.C.

South Miami Beach (Miami, Florida)

Boys Town (Omaha, Nebraska)

The Alamo (San Antonio, Texas)

Your Angels got a glimpse of several of the Great Lakes, saw some beautiful beaches along the Pacific Coast, Atlantic Coast, and The Gulf of Mexico.  They cruised through New England in the fall, crossed the Great Plains, and saw the Lone Star State of Texas from end to end.  They were right with us as we drove over, around, and through many incredible mountain ranges including the Rocky Mountains, The Smoky Mountains, and all along the Appalachian Trail.

Words can not express what an honor it was to have been able to carry your beautiful Angels with us every step of the way.  Here are some fun facts about our trip.

  • We drove nearly 45,000 miles, spending over $12,000 in fuel
  • We slept in 168 different hotel beds
  • We ate in over 500 different dining establishments
  • We spent nearly $8,000 in van and trailer repairs and upkeep.

We learned a few things about hotels:
Marriott beds are the best, Motel 6 beds are the worst, free hot breakfast doesn’t necessarily mean it is hot, and it is only free because no one with self-esteem would pay a dime for it.  We learned that just because a shower is supposed to produce both hot and cold water that isn’t always the case. We now know to ask for a room on the opposite side of the freeway, ask for a first floor room in case there is no elevator, and a “Do Not Disturb” sign on your door can be interpreted by some to read “Please knock loudly at 8 AM and wake us up.”

We learned about food too:
Taco Bell and Wendy’s are always open late.  Don’t order steak at a truck stop. When a restaurant serves both Italian and Mexican food it is because they don’t do either very well.  Domino’s delivers both hot and cold pizza.  We learned that Panara Bread is always great no matter which one you go to.

Some of our best drives were when we got off the Interstate and took the two lane roads through the small towns and countryside.  We learned that bad drivers are not limited to any particular region of the country, we found them everywhere.  We learned that some elderly folks enjoy driving many miles on a freeway with their left blinker on with absolutely no intention of turning left.

So, after arriving home for our winter break, we must now prepare for the Angels Across The Angels Tour 2011.  Yes you heard right… we are loading up the trailer and doing it all again next year as we didn’t come close to getting to all the places who wanted us to speak and play for them in 2010.

We truly believe in what we are doing, and hope you will want to be a part of the 2011 Tour.

May you have a gentle Holiday season. And on behalf of our tour artist: Cindy Inman Davis, our lovely shipping coordinator: Carmen Stewart, Alan and Denise, we want to thank you for letting us carry your Angel Across the USA in 2010.

Angels Are Forever,

Alan and Denise Pedersen
